Tuesday 19th October 2021

Our October talk will be by Simon Spearing. and will address the Past, Present and Future of the 4th oldest working theatre in the country. Simon is the recently appointed General Manager of the Kenton Theatre and his talk will inlcude his early thoughts on the future direction of the theatre. The talk will be given in the Pither Hall at the Christ Church Centre, Reading Road at 7.30, will last about one hour including questions and the Executive Committee invite you to join them for a glass of wine (sponsored by Tesco Henley) after the talk. A talk by The Queens Swan Marker, David Barber, who will give an illustrated talk about the decline in swan population and what we can do to halt this.

'Music on the Lawn'

This event will celebrate the Society's 60th Anniversary and will comprise a Beatles-themed music afternoon. (2022 is also the 60th Anniversary of the release of the first Beatles record). Held on the magnificent riverside grounds at Remenham Club the music will be provided by Barry Owen and the Main Attraction with a barbecue by Calnans Butchers of Watlington. Members are requested to bring their own tipple of choice, drinking vessels and garden chairs/rugs. Gates will open at 1pm and the music will begin at 1.30. There will be a rolling barbecue. Tickets priced at £20 per person to include the music and barbecue, £15 for children under 12, and under 4 year olds free, will be on sale to Members only from April 1st until May 31st when any remaining tickets will be offered to the general public. There will be no ticket sales on the day. Gates will close at 6pm.
