A Town Walk for Members

Dr Michael Redley, who gave us such an interesting talk on 'The Mayors and Alderman of Henley-life before WW1' in March has turned his attention to local builder and six times Mayor of Henley, Charles Clements. Michael has planned a walk to take in many of the fine buildings constructed by Clements, and he will lead and commentate the tour. The walk, which is over mainly flat terrain, will take about ninety minutes and  will commence from the Town Hall steps and finish with tea and cake in the Watercolour Art & Play Centre (formerly the Victoria public house behind the Town Hall.) Tickets priced at £8 can be ordered by calling 07860 145982.

'Henley's need for new housing - and how it can be sympathetically achieved'

A talk by Member and  developer of the Highland Park estate Alan Pontin

A long-time and reputed Henley developer and Member of the Society, Alan would like to bring a developers perspective into focus and will explain how Henley's need for additional housing can be brought into being in a sympathetic and acceptable manner. This promises to be an interesting talk, and I am sure that there will be plenty of questions for Alan at the end of his talk. This talk could be via Zoom - or face-to-face at one of our usual venues in Henley depending on the Covid situation. That is a decision which will be made at the end of August and details will be in our September Executive Committee Briefing to Members.

October 2021

Our October talk will be by the new Manager of the Kenton theatre. Simon Spearing. and will address the Past, Present and Future of the 4th oldest working theatre in the country. Again, we hope to give full details of this talk in our September briefing.
